The work is complete, legible, the bindings are intact, the book block is coherent; headbands without damage; the edges of the pages are speckled (decorative element);

Imperfections: slight dents (cover) cracks; typical bent corners, visible traces of moisture, strong discoloration on the last pages, which does not impede readability.

Hugo Grotius lived at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries. Above all, a thinker, a philosopher of law; he postulated the division of law into statutory law (ius civile) and natural law (ius naturale). He was a prolific writer and held many positions in the courts of the French and Swedish monarchies. He also created theological treatises. The above work is one of them. First published in 1627, “De Veritate…” has been subject to many reissues and printings. The offered copy comes from 1788, although the date under the order of unity shows 6. The date 18 Januari 1786 also appears on the recommendation page at the end of the work.
